You see must aspiring artist today record in ill equipped home studios, now there’s nothing wrong with a home studio if it’s set up correctly. Unfortunately most are not set up for the best recordings possible. This leads to muffled, grainy and problematic levels in the sound which is very unpleasant for the listener experience.

For those aspiring artist experiencing this issue or looking to raise the sound quality of their music, continue to read this post as I have put together a simple 4 step that could being your music’s sound quality to professional levels.

Here’s a quick reminder this is the “Music Business” and with any business you must make investments an possible yourself to make a return on that investment.

Now let’s get to this steps to better sound quality for your music…

STEP 1: THE BEAT

In today’s streaming based music industry it’s a lot easier for an aspiring artist to position themselves at the beginning of their music careers to generate income from music. But the first thing you’ll need to understand is that you must create music to original beats that you are authorized to use.

Therefore you will have to gain an understanding of how to purchase and/or lease original productions from producers. The great part is that there’s hundreds of online beat store with detailed terms and conditions of buying or leasing those beats.

Now here’s the part you’ll always want to make sure is included in your purchase and that’s the “Tracked Out” beat file.

(Elements of the beat are placed on spread track layers)

This type of file will help you create the best possible sound quality for your music when in the editing process. (Mixed & Mastered)

Here’s three online beat store you should check out…

  1. BEAT STARS https://www.beatstars.com/
  2. JBZ BEATS https://www.jbzbeats.com/
  3. CORONA PRODUCTIONS https://corona-production.com/

STEP 2: THE LYRICS

As the creator of content it’s up to you as to the choice of style and music you wish to create. What I will advise here is that you write something of quality if you wish to sell it and position the song in it’s best market space.

Now there’s a number of angles you can accomplish this from but one thing for sure is that you want to write the best possible hook for your song. Hooks are pretty much the most memorable part of 95% of songs ever made. Yeah, it’s that important.

One of the biggest things about music is the way it makes the listener feel. Another is it’s relatableness to the listener. therefore it’s very important for you to accomplish these 0two in your sellable music.

Here’s a few questions you should ask yourself before writing every original song you intend to place in the market for sell…

  1. What type of song can I make to this beat?
  2. What experiences do I have with this topic on a personal level and/or second hand knowledge of?
  3. What audience do I primarily want to reach with this song?

Those three simple questions should help guide you to the right choice in content vs beat every time.

STEP 3: THE RECORDING

Once you acquire the right beat production and write great content for it, It’s time to record it. This is where many aspiring artist go wrong, by believing that recording a song is simply hitting the record button and spitting your rhymes.

Well that maybe true if we’re talking about something other than a sellable song. Otherwise you’ll want to record in a professional recording studio or a correctly set up home studio, with an experienced recording engineer.

If you just purchased an original beat production or given one by a music producer. And you intend to record a song to sell on major streaming platforms, I strongly suggest that you find a quality studio capable of producing that quality sound you’ll need to complete in the streaming world of music.

Here’s something to remember, quality products always get recommended while bad products are disregarded or spoke of in a negative manner to the point that it fails in the market.

Therefore don’t waste your time and/ or money on low quality product development.

STEP 4: THE EDIT

The editing room for music is we’re the magic happens. when you acquire the skills of an experienced audio engineer who specializes in Mixing and Mastering tracks you’ll never what to release another track you intend to sell without it ever again.

There’s a lot of aspiring artist out there that believe they don’t need to spend the money it cost for a quality mix and master for their music. I would say there correct if there not looking to sell it or gain repeat listeners.

On the other hand if your looking to sell your music to the public and build a fanbase for yourself you’ll want to present to them the best quality product possible.

Therefore my advice to you is DO NOT skip the mix and master option for your original songs. It’s ok if your just freestyling over beats.

HERE’S A COUPLE BONUS TIPS

BONUS 1: THE VISUAL

So your song is complete and it’s time to start working your marketing and promotion plan for your new single. What’s next well my answer is great cover art.

A lot of aspiring artist underestimate the power of have quality cover art that represents there singles. And if you think about it, it’s actually the first thing most new listener’s will see before even listening to the music.

Ask yourself what do you see first on pretty much any music streaming platform? maybe the name of the song or the name of the artist but you will most definitely see the cover art.

Bad cover art in my experience is a deterrent for me because I automatically think the actual song has to be poor quality and not worth my time. On the other hand good to great quality cover art will signal to me, “hey there maybe a dope song here let me give it a listen.”

Bottom line is that the cost for good cover art is very affordable these days so it makes absolutely no sense for an artist not to invest in that service for their own benefit.

BONUS 2: THE DISTRIBUTION

When it comes to music distribution we’re living in great time for all aspiring artist to have a shot at actually creating an income stream for there original works.

With tech companies like “Tunecore” you now have the opportunity to complete on a major level by having your music listed in the same pools and playlist as highly successful artist giving yourself the best opportunity to win at music.

If your wondering, Tunecore is a highly affordable distribution platform and very easy to use. It also provides a list of other great tools and service geared towards growing your career in music.

In other words you can start your own record label or distribution company if you like. My advice is do some research on Tunecore and see if you like it.

Conclusion
