The ARCHIVED INTERVIEW

What’s your outlook on today’s hip-hop culture in New York City? (Pros and Cons)

I think that the Hip Hop culture in New York is looking great right now. It’s a lot of good music in New York. Now we need New York DJs to break artists from New York.

How important is respecting the OGs in hip-hop culture to you and why?
It’s very important; the industry is no different from real life, I’ve always been taught to respect the OGs. I love meeting artists I looked up to as a kid. However, I do believe that the OGs need to respect the young Gs too.

When you’re listening to new music in 2016, does lyric matter to you and why?

Lyrics do matter to me only depending on who I’m listening to. Some artists aren’t lyrical rappers and this is what Hip Hop is supposed to be made up of. Everyone doesn’t have to make the same sound. When I hear someone that’s lyrical I tune in with that artist.

Who’s one artist that has passed away that you would have liked to have met and why?
I would love to have met Whitney Houston, I’m a huge fan of Whitney. She was beautiful and very talented, and her voice was amazing. She went through the ups and downs in this industry and also overcame a lot of things in this game.

If you could open up for any artist on tour who would it be and why?

Jay-Z. I wanna open up for Hov, he’s a big deal. Just being on the same stage with him would be enough for me.

How did you get into music and what keeps you inspired?

I got into music from my mother playing it in the house every morning. As I grew I started going to school, starting rap cyphers using Biggie rhymes. From there I fell in love with the response I would get from people.
